7:16 PM Rachel: Hi there
7:17 PM me: are you both there still?
I am sorry I am late. I got carried away with another task
Rachel: it's fine~
7:18 PM me: Vincent, are you there?
7:19 PM Rachel: um........shall we wait for a while?
me: mmm
7:20 PM Rachel: i am reading your post
me: I haven't posted
Must be vincent's
Vincent: hey I'm back
Rachel: oh! Yes
7:21 PM me: welcome vincent
Vincent: :)
7:22 PM so let's start from our idea developments
me: Yes, but I haven't posted yet, I am sorry.
Vincent: that's ok
7:23 PM you can talk about it now
Rachel: I did it in a hurry too
so ...
Vincent: me too
Rachel: need your suggestions
7:24 PM me: did you take those photos, vincent?
Vincent: no, I find them by Google :)
7:25 PM me: O
I really like the photo of the grills
Rachel: quite beautiful~
7:26 PM Vincent: yes it is
but most of grills in Taiwan are ugly
me: he he
I like the part of the grill idea that changes them not from keeping people out, but of connecting people
7:27 PM I like rachel's idea about the door turning into a table
but I am wondering if it would be used
7:28 PM Rachel: i think both ideas can be combined
but sucurity and some other problems need more scussion
discussion
7:30 PM original concept was imagining a scene that neighbors can have one area for more communication
7:31 PM me: I think the challenge—at least in the US—is not that there isn't a place, but that there isn't the time or interest.
we have lost our sense of community—at least in larger cities
7:32 PM Rachel: probably same here in Taiwan
if we can figure some solutions, that would be good
7:34 PM me: right
The trends I see all show people moving toward virtual "communities" where people share interests.
7:35 PM such as forums for clubs, old people, cyclists etc
7:36 PM I am part of a church community, but in the same sense, we all share common values
I think that is what happens when you live in a densely populated area...
(including the virtual world on the web)
7:37 PM ...you start to leave what was once the community—your neighborhood—and spend more time with people that share your perspective and values
Vincent: well It's true
7:38 PM me: and it is hard or strange to just start talking to people that you don't know
7:39 PM perhaps, like the umbrella idea, people could advertise a little about themselves, like "my dog's name is buster" and display that so people could start a conversation about it if they wanted
7:40 PM by displaying something passively, they would be putting themselves out, for other people to see and take interest in
Rachel: oh! something like twitter or blog
7:41 PM me: yeah, and a display. Maybe an LED display that you could wear, like a badge or something
7:42 PM Rachel: i like this idea.
me: or perhaps it could be woven into clothing...
or installed on a backpack
7:43 PM Rachel: um..how can we transform this more to a ren design
me: However, we would need to think about how to keep people from saying mean things on it...or maybe they just would
Vincent: start form the same interest is the way to creat interaction
Rachel: it's possible that it will turn out to be something just to make friends
7:44 PM me: which is good too, right?
Rachel: yes~
7:45 PM Vincent: I don't think to make friends is far away from "REN"
7:46 PM me: ...but maybe it isn't as close as it could be...
Vincent: yeah it's true
me: say more, rachel
7:47 PM Rachel: some websites like facebook or others can share similar ideas
me: what would be different if we were to bring that into real life?
Rachel: but we would not connect it directly to good humanity or ren
7:48 PM so i think if we design this,
Vincent: unless we make them help each other
Rachel: besides of knowing others, some other good principles shall be included
7:49 PM me: right.
Rachel: though i cannot think of some suggestions now~
7:50 PM me: I like the idea of sharing things at the bus stops, rachel.
—like books
7:51 PM But I feel like there needs to be something more that will get people to actually talk to each other.
unless the idea is just to share books...
7:52 PM Rachel: originally i tried to make this bus stop a warm place
7:53 PM book is one basic thing that i thought of...more values are need
me: perhaps magazines, or short articles
maybe poetry?
Rachel: ha
7:54 PM i tried to add something more besides of reading
me: what if bus shelters had poetry on the walls, that changed from day to day
Rachel: that's kind of individual thig
oh~that's pretty ren
me: perhaps you could make a culture where people would talk about the poetry
7:55 PM Rachel: then it will be one site to promote the idea to citizens
not bad
me: one other thing with people in public, at least in the US, there are a lot of people that listen to music instead of talking to people around them.
Rachel has left
7:56 PM Rachel has joined
Vincent: hmm a lot people walking on the strret with there i-pod
7:57 PM me: ...so they don't talk
7:58 PM Vincent, talk more about the idea of connecting the grills...
7:59 PM Vincent: how about use i-pod to creat interaction
8:00 PM me: Perhaps...
Rachel: link the MP3 player to one public devices...
8:01 PM Vincent: well I just think we can change the grills into a way to communicate with neighbors
me: ....when you are listening to an ipod and you get close to another ipod, your ipod turns off the music and says, go talk to that other person with the ipod
Rachel: but i don't want them to play it loud indeed
Vincent: ha
Rachel has left
me: rachel, you keep leaving.
Vincent: if my i-pod thurns off every time iI get close people
8:02 PM me: then you stay away?
ha ha
Vincent: I'll go vrazy
crazy
8:03 PM maybe it's a signal or vibration?
me: that's interesting
it would be just a subtle reminder to be nice
Rachel has joined
Rachel has left
8:04 PM me: rachel, you there?
Rachel has joined
Rachel has left
Rachel has joined
8:05 PM Vincent: umm
me: rachel, are you haveing internet problems?
Vincent: hello Rachel :)
Rachel has left
Vincent: It seems to be yes
me: hmm
8:06 PM the subtle remind could come from your phone...or from any other device
but you have your phone with you all the time
8:07 PM Vincent: yes and think almost every people does
8:08 PM me: perhaps we could develop a service that just helps people meet their neighbors...
....going off rachel's idea of door turning into a window
Vincent: hm
8:09 PM me: What if you could just sign up to meet your neighbors, and then some service sent an invitation to everyone to gather at a local place—restaurant, and people just met,
?
Vincent: rachel say's that she'll try to log in again
Rachel has joined
me: rachel?
Rachel: hey
here can u here me?
Vincent: yes
haha
8:10 PM Rachel: good~~
me: with that idea, no one would have to host the party, and there would not have to be any commitment. It could be like a blind date, but have multiple people there, to help make it safe
8:11 PM Rachel: oh blind date!
me: right, to meet your neighbors, not to find romance
Rachel: that will be a good idea to held it on the roof
8:12 PM i think do a grille design is not bad~
me: rachel, are you having problems with your internet?
Rachel: but safety is ....big problem
not now, i hope
8:13 PM me: yeah, the grills could be like TVs when you look out maybe
so you could have a chat with the neighbors...
but actually, in the US, we don't have grills, but we don't communicate with neighbors through the window.
8:14 PM do you chat with neighbors through the window in Taiwan if you don't have grills?
Rachel: depends what neighbors i have
8:15 PM but normally we have no possible connections between our houses
me: do you live in high rises?
Rachel: so the meeting place is always in the lobby or the elevator
apartments normally
Vincent: oh yeah, the elevators
8:16 PM my idea is kind of like this
Vincent: how about creat the interaction in elevator
Rachel: turn walls to doors
Vincent has left
Rachel: oops!
Vincent has joined
8:17 PM me: elevators are hard
Rachel: i think that will be embrassing though
me: you are only in the elevator for a short time, so it is tough to get deep into a conversation
or to have a meaningful conversation
8:19 PM Rachel: by the way
me: my school is in a very small high rise—only 14 floors, and I still don't see the same people
Rachel: it's another grille design
me: wow. That's cool.
Vincent: cool
8:20 PM Rachel: yes, but still security is one big problem
me: security is a problem with the fold down grill?
8:21 PM Rachel: cannot be too big or put too many things on it
me: oh
Rachel: i am afraid of falling down actually~~~
Vincent: ha
8:23 PM me: so far we have thought through a lot of ideas.
but our ideas are generally around not ignoring the people around us.
Rachel has joined
8:24 PM Rachel: we have discussed about these
8:25 PM *terrace or grille
connection/chat

*bus stop
connection/sharing
music/ books/ poems etc

*umbrella
communication/sharing
me: *label thing
8:26 PM *neighbor blind date
*ipod/phone subtle reminder
Rachel: ha! that's not the original one for blind date~
8:27 PM i post another idea of sharing schedule
me: right...true.
Rachel: how do u think of this
8:28 PM if possible i think it can be one elements of the busstop
or in apartments/terrace ,etc
8:29 PM me: the blind date can be part of the terrace or bus stop?
Rachel: that's always one choice~
the users decide themselves
Vincent: right
8:30 PM me: decide what themselves?
Rachel: i think we cann't create any design for them to date
me: not to date, just to meet...
and not for romance
Rachel: just opportunities for them to talk
8:31 PM me: right
Rachel: and if it's not for the grille
we don't have to create space
8:33 PM me: We could do that...
8:34 PM Rachel: so far i like the idea of bus stop most
me: I wonder if it attacks the root problem of "unconcern"
Rachel: probably not
8:35 PM i think this contains most ideas of ren at least
can include this objectives to other designs too
Vincent: you meam the bus stop?
8:36 PM Rachel: yep~
Rachel has left
8:37 PM Rachel has joined
Rachel: we can think how to develop inner ren for individuals, and outside behaviors , such as sharing
me: rachel, tell us what about the bus stop makes it appropriate for solving this ren issue.
8:38 PM Rachel: it hits two targets~
inner feelings through reading or poems
oh ....you got computer problems...........................
Rachel has left
8:39 PM Rachel has joined
me: who has computer problems?
Rachel: you two just left the comversation two times~
8:40 PM gmail problems-"-
me: oh.
I didn't notice that I left
Rachel has left
Vincent: no I our perspective, you left two time eachel
8:41 PM Rachel has joined
Vincent: and this is the third times
Rachel: anyway,let me finish~
yes! oops
(1)inner feelings through reading or poems
8:42 PM (2)outer behaviors like sharing books
oh....can u get my message
Rachel has left
8:43 PM Rachel has joined
me: but why is the bus stop a particularly good place for these objectives?
Rachel: not really
8:44 PM i just think this contains solutions in different aspects
and probably can influence more people
Rachel has left
Rachel has joined
me: It could be a book store, or a book reading area...
8:45 PM in a shopping mall or something.
Vincent: or a coffee shop
me: right
Rachel: um....right
8:46 PM if we want to contain book transfer
this should be a very common site
and probably not a store
Rachel has left
8:47 PM Rachel has joined
8:48 PM me: Down the street from my house, there is an old newspaper stand where people leave books
on the outside, it says "take a book, leave a book"
and there are always books in it.
Rachel has left
Rachel has joined
Rachel: oh! something like that
me: I have looked several times and the books don't look very appealing.
8:49 PM I wonder if there would be a way to get people to share books that they really find valuable or interesting
Rachel: there's always thing that we cannot control~
8:50 PM if they don't do this out of a sharing mind~
Rachel has left
me: right. good point.
Rachel has joined
8:51 PM me: let's rest on this.
I need to get on to some other projects, including finishing my presentation.
Vincent: ok
8:52 PM me: do we have a chance to work on this together when we get there?
Vincent: It's time to go for me too
Rachel has left
me: are you both already at NCKU?
Vincent: I think so
Rachel has joined
Vincent: yeah we are the student here
me: ah OK
8:53 PM are you undergrads or graduate students?
Vincent: I'm grad student
Rachel: i am junior
how about u
me: I am a grad student.
8:54 PM Rachel: btw when will u come to taiwan
me: I will get there on may 10
I think
Rachel: taiwan time
Rachel has left
me: yes
Vincent: hmm
Rachel has joined
me: taiwan time
Vincent: ok
8:55 PM then we'll meet on that day
8:56 PM if you didn't feel too tired after a long fight.
Rachel has left
Rachel has joined
me: I hope not, but I probably will be tired.
Vincent: ha
8:57 PM It's true
Rachel: i got to go ...sorry
me: OK
I will post this conversation on the blog
Vincent: bye
Rachel: yep next time we can really discuss in Taiwan
me: so you think we will have time to work on this together once we get there?
(once I get there)
8:58 PM Rachel: we have 4 days to complete this

Idea Development

Concept 1 : Sidewalk Design

This concept is to creat interaction between people,by making the original sidewalk into a kind of stomp-a-mole game. For instance we can male every bricks with a led light built inside. It may randomly sparkle and react when people's stepping on.

Concept 2 : Grille Design

This concept is develope from the idea of the terrace design. Since the iron grating window and the grille is very common in Taiwan, especilally in the city. It can be consider as the symbol of unconcern. We cau try to change that into a bridge for connecting and communicating neighbors. For example with a pattern that can be change everyday up to the user's mood on it. Or the grilles can connect each other then become a big platform for party.

Concept 3: Time Bank Design

Change the timebank idea into a product. Make the net community carrying out in the real world. Each member has a chip built in their cell phone, which can identify their identity, and big billboards setting up everywhere in the city, refreshing the informaiton of the Time Bank. The members can easily knows if there are any people need help.

Concept 4 : Subway station & Bus stop's Cart Design

There always are some people carrying heavy baggage in these two place . we can develope a new type of the cart, which is more easily and efficient to use when more people with big baggage go togeter.

Idea developments

(1) terrace design

Terrace can be the link between neighbors. We can design a "door" instead of a "wall" to set people's terrace apart. If they want to, neighbors can turn the door down, translated it into a table. They can use this to connect each other. Simply enjoy an afternoon tea with your neighbor , we can break down the visiable and invisiable walls.

concepts
*relationship between 1. neighbors 2. terrace and passengers
*transform the walls into something that can link people together
*sharing the terrace design with beautiful plants with passengers

(2) schedule sharing

Catch the idea of twitter. Set a big board in the lobby of an apartment or building. Inhabitants can share their "must sees" on the board, such as movies, good concerts, etc. They can use mobile phone to send messages on the board. To broaden this idea, they can choose to release a news via words or even pictures. They can reply others opinions as well.

concepts :
*sharing with others
* can be designed for an apartment building or even public space.

(3) Bar bench

Imagine what people would like to do in a park when they want to take a rest. The elders like to sit down chatting or play chess. Students may sit down to read some books. Parents would sit down but also keep an eye on their children around. There are so many different things you can do when sitting on a bench. We can design a bench to satisfy their needs comfortably and considerably. Combing the idea of a bar table, it shall create possible interaction if people want to.

concepts :
*care for different individuals' needs in one design
*form is changable, if strangers want to sit closer to know each other
*satitsfy different users

(4) Bus stop

Combining vending machine, library and seats together. People can sit comfortably in the bus stop. They can have some cool drinks if they want. Passengers can leave their old books there, so others can read while waiting for the bus. If they want to, they can bring the book on the bus and put it in another bus stop after finish it. Use the stop to be one sharing site, every moment can be so valuable.

concepts:
*sharing
*considerate care for people
*care for people of different ages

Universal Ethics Design

From the NCKU website:
According to the ancient classic Chinese writing system, “仁“ (ren) literally means the close interpersonal relationship between two individuals that comes from the sincere heart. “仁” (ren) is also the core value of Confucianism, which has been deeply developed and implemented by the global Chinese communities for a long time. This character describes the loving and caring attitude towards others, the society, country and the world to accomplish elegance, excellence and harmony in daily life.
“Universal Ethics Design” (仁品設計) is developed based on “仁” (ren) and integrates product design and service systems. By combining tangible and intangible elements, “Universal Ethics Design” is expected to transform objects into ethical products which respect Nature, develop social intelligence, reorganize the social order, hold the society together, and enhance the meaning of life

7:05 PM Rachel: good morning~
Vincent: good morning and good afternoon :)
me: Thanks, You too.
7:06 PM before we get started, could you share what design project you will be presenting
for your past work?
7:07 PM Rachel: you mean for the presentation during the workshop?
me: yes
7:08 PM Rachel: oh! i didn't put it on the website, but i think i can explain here~
me: I will be presenting on an innovation developed for mexican immigrants to Chicago: a combination of a laundromat and english language teaching facility....so they can do laundry and learn English at the same time.
7:09 PM Rachel: oh~is that like a bag?
7:11 PM me: no. A laundromat is a place to do your laundry (wash your clothes) open to the public
Vincent: My project is a new USB device that can communicate people in the office in a delightful way.
me: so you would go there to wash your clothes and learn english.
how does your USB communicate in a delightful way?
Rachel: i see...
7:12 PM Vincent: Recall the memory of writing on the wall
me: so the USB would project a message from someone else in the office?
Vincent: yes
me: that's fun!
7:13 PM Rachel: cool
me: how about yours, rachel?
Rachel: mine is a little bookmarker. with the pass of time, it will gradually change its color to remind reader to take a rest.
me: so you don't read too much?
7:14 PM Rachel: the change will be activateby bending it, and will recover after use
ha~for me yes
me: very clever!
Rachel: but once i read i just want to finish it once
me: me too...if it's a good book.
Rachel: and never take a rest
Vincent: ha me too
7:15 PM me: OK. Now on to Ren!
Rachel: i just post something on the blog
me: I did earlier too.
7:16 PM Rachel: give me some time to read~
me: Vincent, did you have something you wanted to post?
Rachel: i post some design that i think is simple and interesting
7:17 PM Vincent: no i'm still looking for some product can represent REN for me
me: I think your approach is interesting, Rachel: to build on the principles that would encourage Ren behaviors
7:18 PM Rachel: um...that comes from the WIKI explanation too
ren is something inside
and shall be express from some outside behaviors
7:19 PM me: right.
that was the topic of my post.
Rachel: yep ha
to present some "good humanity"
7:20 PM howevr i think it will be better to not focus on only one characteristic
me: ...like sharing?
Rachel: more is better~
7:21 PM yep that's only one elemnt
me: I like the idea of subtly encouraging people to do and be better.
7:22 PM Sharing is an easy principle to do that with
Rachel: yes.
i saw another good design with similar idea
7:23 PM (forgot the website though)
it's a public seat
me: Are there homeless people in Taiwan?
7:24 PM Rachel: sure~
Vincent: sure
Rachel: but it's for passengers actually~
me: what if there was a system to help encourage people to help homeless people
—different idea
7:25 PM Rachel: that's really "REN"
can be one direction~
7:26 PM help means to help them back to work
Vincent: but we have to think about "how"
me: rachel, what do you mean "can be one direction?"
Rachel: can be one choice of our group work~
7:27 PM me: ah
OK
Rachel: i think we can list many ideas
concept and objectives
7:28 PM if possible we can select 3 good ones today
and think about the detail design later
me: I think that is a good idea.
Vincent: ok
7:29 PM so start brainstorming~
me: OK
so sharing and helping homeless are the first two
7:30 PM Rachel: i think bus stop is another choice too
cause in Taiwan
Vincent: how about redesign a public trashcan
me: what about bus stop?
7:31 PM redesign public trashcan to do what?
Rachel: ha....vincent let me talk first
sorry~
Vincent: sure
me: perhaps a system to get rid of agressive driving
7:32 PM Rachel: another one, yes
bus stop that is designed for people in every age
me: hmm. OK
Rachel: cause when people have to wait in line for a long time
7:33 PM theycan face some troubles, especially for the elders
me: OK
7:34 PM maybe an easily accessible seat inside the bus or train for elders
or a good way to get them there easily
if the bus/train is crowded
Rachel: um...and some design for them if it rains
7:35 PM or if many people don't follow the rules to wait in line
me: maybe a system to help blind people onto the buses easily...a navigation system
Rachel: yes
7:36 PM so for different ages and even for sick pelple, child ...so on
7:37 PM Vincent: but i think if we can let them help each others during the waiting will be great
me: yes...let people help people
Rachel: that combines the idea of sharing
Vincent: It's difficult though
yes
7:38 PM me: perhaps we could look at helping family members who have been in a fight or feud, to resolve their differences
7:40 PM Rachel: or some furniture that can help the family members to get along with eachother well
and to welcome guest
design for more and better interaction
7:41 PM me: or maybe something that is a game, but also a relationship strengthener
Rachel: ha
interesting
though i think we can broaden this to neighbors
or more people
7:42 PM that suits REN mote
me: yeah
Rachel: more
Vincent: invite other people into the game
Rachel: how about terrace
me: terrace?
7:43 PM Rachel: we can think about some areas that people may meet people
and put our design there to create more possibility
7:44 PM me: and facilitate their meeting?
Rachel: facilitate and create interation
interaction
7:45 PM there's one project in Taipei now
Vincent: It can be a bus stop:)
7:46 PM Rachel: ha
me: bus stop: cure for the world's ills
;)
Rachel: i was talking about the problems we have in Taiwan
do you have any in the US
7:48 PM me: I think that being unkind is a general universal problem
Rachel: um...
Vincent: it's true
me: that is manifested in driving, in stealing, in making rude gestures
Rachel: and being unconcerned
me: yeah...unconcerned.
7:49 PM Rachel: common problems in cities
me: Perhaps we could develop a way to get over being unconcerned with others.
Vincent: free hugs
7:50 PM me: hah ha ha ha
Rachel: ha~
me: that's funny!
Rachel: i am so afraid of that actually
Vincent: why?
me: you know, we become very concerned with other people, whose blogs we read
and we don't even know them.
7:51 PM what if we had a way to safely
view blogs of people in your neighborhood, so that you could know them and be concerned about them when you meet them
7:52 PM —if you know someone's story, you might be able to better have empathy for them
7:53 PM perhaps blogs aren't the right tool...but maybe something similar
Rachel: twitter
me: that isn't quite as story oriented
but it's possible
7:56 PM Rachel: there's some website promoting the idea of helping others
i forgot the name, probably "time bank"?
me: talk more about that.
Rachel: you can save time as money in that net bank
7:57 PM me: Perhaps we could think about sharing umbrellas in the rain...like if the person is willing to share, a light turns on at the top, and wet people could step inside
Rachel: and you can provide your telent and professional
oh~that's lovely
Vincent: It's cute
7:58 PM me: and then they would talk and get to know each other.
Rachel: right
me: and someone is sharing too.
7:59 PM Rachel: i think that's a pretty good idea
simply touch the topic
8:00 PM me: just have to figure out how to make it safe...
8:01 PM perhaps your phone could tell somehow that the person with the umbrella is safe...
Vincent: ha
8:02 PM me: maybe there is an adjoining internet service that facilitates
Rachel: or you have to register when you buy
me: yeah
It might go against the idea of Ren, but perhaps someone could get "friendly points" for sharing or something
8:03 PM Vincent: make it into a community
me: like couch surfing...have you guys heard of that?
8:04 PM Vincent: no
8:05 PM it's a community of people that volunteer their couch for visitors (they have never met) in exchange to be able to sleep on other people's couches in other cities
Vincent: hmm I see
Rachel has left
8:06 PM me: where did rachel go?
Vincent: I don't know too
maybe her computer crashed
8:07 PM Rachel has joined
Rachel: i click on the link and it log me out= =
me: hmm whoops
8:08 PM Rachel: how? sorry let's continue
me: so we have several ideas/areas on the table
8:09 PM Rachel: bus stop
Terrace
umbrella
homeless
me: driving
Rachel: domething for family
8:10 PM me: overcoming unconcern
Rachel: create interaction
trnsform net service to product
Vincent: resolving fight
8:11 PM Rachel: let strangers help others
me: oooh yeah. Maybe it would be a service that connected neighbors who needed help with something, with surrounding peopel
8:12 PM do you have craigslist in taiwan?
looks like it.
Vincent: actually not
8:13 PM especially in the city
me: maybe there would be something where you could post "I am moving, need help" and people from the neighborhood would volunteer to help
or, "I need someone to take care of my dog for a day" etc
that way, strangers would help strangers, and also get to know each other.
8:14 PM Rachel: that shall combine net service
8:15 PM about the time bank that i mentioned
me: Oh, OK
Rachel: it's like members can upload their telent and profession
and upload their needs
8:16 PM such as : my mom needs someone to talk to when i am away for vacation
me: thats a funny need.
Rachel: ha
things like this
and you can save more money when you offer more
8:17 PM and you can get more people to help you using the money you earn
me: OK. so are there more ideas out there?
8:19 PM Vincent: I think the way people use public trashcan is a big problem in taiwan
me: talk more about that.
8:20 PM Vincent: some people didn't treat it as they do in their own house
just throw everything
then go away
8:21 PM me: Like the throw garbage not in the can?
Vincent: yes
me: OK
Vincent: and another case is if there are no public trashcan around
8:22 PM people will throw their garbage into anything look like a "can"
me: yeah, I have seen that here in US
8:23 PM Rachel: feel less guilty probably
8:25 PM me: hmm

Guys...add what I missed here.

6 minutes
8:31 PM Rachel: 您已經受邀加入此聊天室!
yeah!
8:32 PM me: OK
back.
so we have several ideas now.
Would it be OK with you two if we posted our chat conversations on the blog...just so we have everything in one place?
8:33 PM Rachel: ok!
Vincent: ok
Rachel: actually i lost some of them when i am away
sad
8:34 PM me: me too...so perhaps I will post what I have, and you can add anything that I might have missed
Vincent: that will be fine
Rachel: i think we can develop these ideas more this week
me: yes.
do we want to come up with three that we all agree on?
Rachel: and has to conclude some basic concepts
8:35 PM three or more is ok
8:36 PM Vincent: ok
8:37 PM Rachel: bus stop
Terrace
umbrella
homeless
driving
something for family
overcoming unconcern
create interaction(eg.something place on the street)
trnsform net service to product
resolving fight
let strangers help others
trashcan
net service to product
is that all?
me: I think so...
I like the helping the homeless...and the umbrella and overcoming unconcern
8:38 PM I also like the time bank idea, but is that already done? I don't know the difference between the proposed idea and what already exists
Rachel: that's already done for the net service
me: OK
8:39 PM Rachel: but if we can promote this via some product
Vincent: I like umbrella and resolving fight and let strangers help each others
Rachel: that's ok still
Vincent: yes
8:40 PM Rachel: i like Terrace, overcoming unconcern, net service to product
8:41 PM me: net service to product means turning time bank into a tangible good?
8:42 PM Rachel: yes~
or other ideas like a twitter
or blog
8:44 PM i think we can do this all if we want to,
for this week
me: so we each develop our three different ideas?
Rachel: each one for 2-3, ideas that we pick
8:45 PM me: OK. Fair enough.
Rachel: ha
Vincent: ok
Rachel: we can leave our suggestions on the blog
me: Let's have them posted 24 hours before our next chat, so we have time to review them. Can you do that>
?
8:46 PM Rachel: ok!!
Vincent: sure
Rachel: and that's necessary
can Matthew post our discussion on first?
8:47 PM i will read them to recall some memory~
me: yes. I will post them right now.
Rachel: um! so let's meet next week^^
8:48 PM me: same time?
Rachel: for me ok
Vincent: me too
8:49 PM Rachel: then, for next week-> same time for discussion, and post on the blog one day before, give some feedbacks on the blog too
8:50 PM me: sure. sounds good.
thanks guys!
